Holz (im Wasser)
You've probably seen it too: The footage capturing a wooden stick being unexpectedly pulled into a small water hose has become one of Instagram's most widely-watched videos, especially within Switzerland. Surpassing 63 million views and amassing 2.8 million likes, its significance far exceeded my initial expectations. The video defies conventional wisdom about how to reach a large audience: it lacks hashtags, wasn't posted at a specific time, has no sound or music, and even lacks a video description. Remarkably, it has more views than France has inhabitants. This was quite a departure from my original intent when I recorded it out of boredom during my civil defense duty.
It's not that I care too much about likes on social media, nor would I describe myself as a talented content creator. However, this story has made me contemplate the relationship between effort and reward in the digitalized world. It's a rather amusing tale, and I've decided to include it in my portfolio due to its uniquely quirky nature.
