About The Studio
René Odermatt is a Zurich based designer who graduated from Zurich University of the Arts in 2016. After completing his studies, he established his own design agency Studio Porto Gmbh, where he works as a self-employed designer. René gained recognition in 2020 when he was awarded the Design Preis Schweiz for his innovative design of the home assistant, Caru. While his early career focused on technical industrial design, he has recently been expanding his repertoire to include more aesthetically driven objects. Alongside his professional endeavors, René is also a dedicated teacher at Zurich University of the Arts, where he shares his knowledge and instills the values of design and manufacturability in the younger generation. René’s work embodies a harmonious blend of functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability, as he strives to create designs that leave a lasting impact.
